“Fred de la Bretoniere” and “Shabbies Amsterdam” are two famous Dutch brands for high end, hand-made quality leather shoes and bags, owned by Private Equity.

We built a strong brand with a larger customer base, implemented an omni-channel strategy, developed a webshop and E-commerce, shortened the supply chain and increased frequency of collections from 2 to 6 collections per year.

Start up Manager at EGG
EGG sells and produces in the Netherlands safety helmets for children. A young innovative “start up” that combines safety and fun in a niche market.

Consultant at “MS Mode”
Set up the Merchandise Planning and Allocation department to work data driven with a new management information system, coach the International Sales Director and temporarily lead the Belgian Sales division.

Founder “ByDanie Fashion”
Together with stylist Danie Bles started a company that designs, produces and sells women fashion collection for retailers in 5 countries and through its own webshop.

Member of the Advisory Board of “Milo Coats”
Production and wholesale of woollen women’s coats.

Co-Owner Coffeeprof
Belgian company that my partner and I started, set up and sold. The company was in Belgium (Gent) and leased coffee machines to Hotels Restaurants and Cafes and sold ingredients for coffee and tea.

We acquired the right to sell “Lavazza” a famous and sexy Italian coffee brand.

General Manager Setpoint
A men’s fashion retail chain (25 own stores and 10 franchise stores) selling private label as well as brands was underperforming due to inconsistent management and unclear positioning. A re-branding of the entire formula (collection, marketing and store concept) was completed with encouraging results.

General Manager MIM
MIM is a full French daughter of the English New Look Group with 280 stores in France and a head office in Paris. In coordination with the international expansion of New Look the goal was to develop MIM into an international brand with owned stores in several European countries in combination with E-commerce.

2001 - 2007 COOL CAT FASHION

General Manager
In a young, trendy niche market our goal was to bring structure, professionalize the organization and by doing so double turnover in five years realizing ambitious results. We started with 60 stores taking over a chain with 80 stores and converting stores, personell, DC and HQ to Cool Cat.

We integrated 2 completely different companies with completely different cultures. We grew to 150 stores in 5 European countries and franchise stores in the Middle East.


International Sales Director / General Manager
A vertical integrated retail company in women’s clothing, with a production company in East Europe, was in trouble. A recovery plan was implemented and head office, stores and logistics were restructured, leading to closure of two distribution centres and 120 stores in Germany. In 2001 all remaining 450 stores in Holland, Belgium, Germany, France and Luxemburg were profitable (€ 250 mln, 10% ebit).

International turnaround management in a turbulent period in which the owner (KBB) merged with Vendex.

1992 - 1997: WE FASHION

Responsible for the stores in the Netherlands and in Germany.
The goal was to lead the Dutch organisation and start up a German organisation

Learning management in an international culture. Big responsibility (120 stores, € 25 mln turnover and 1000+ employees) at a very young age.

1989 - 1992: BLYCOLIN

Head of Bureau
In charge of purchasing, indoor sales, administration, logistics and personnel. Started as an intern I had the opportunity to analyze the business and learned the drivers of success. I stayed on to help grow into a successful company.

Learning various aspects of doing business, teamwork and getting results during my first real job.


Chairman of the board of the “Stichting Bij Leven en Welzijn”
This is a voluntary commitment that suddenly needed a few days per week of my time. Because of the good cause I was glad to comply. Now it takes no more time than a few meetings per month (evenings and weekends), and it is time to appoint a successor.
