International Commercial/Business Manager or Project Manager

Work Experience

Work Experience;

Tony is for over 15 years involved in presenting and negotiating specialized professional services in the offshore industry to a client base all around the world. Working for various contractors and as consultant unique services were being offered or developed which beneficial impact could only be fully implemented when taken onboard at the conceptual stages of the projects involved.

As a consequence he has a solid knowledge of the many possible concepts available, like FPSO’s, bottom storage, jack-up’s, minimal platforms, TLP’s, spar’s, pipelines or large platform structures, understands fully the impact of their application and execution and realizes very well the pitfalls surrounding them. By being exposed to the industry in various parts of the world a good knowledge have been build of the capabilities and capacities of the various possible parties involved in completing a successful offshore development. Of course, he realizes that his innovative and creative, out of the box thinking was a mandatory ingredient as well to be able to find optimum solutions.

Many times this well understanding of the industry has lead to successes for the organizations working for. He is very well aware that this success is also due to
understanding the culture and background of all those involved. A sensitive, serious approach combined with well-selected sales channels and networks are absolute requirements to be successful. Selecting and managing those contacts is another element that contributed to Tony’s success. Client and partner friendly orientated thinking and acting is an always to survive attitude when making successful combinations or contracts.

Many of the solutions proposed to the different parties were well beyond the standard solutions the own organization was used to, putting in another important ingredient to be managed to be successful and to get support when out in the field. Good teamwork with the own organization is well recognized by him and seen as a necessary prerequisite.

Successes

As consultant having been instrumental to bringing offshore culture and confidence with an onshore orientated group of stakeholders and investors for a novel offshore pipeline installation method. Changing economical conditions combined with new ownership has regretfully stopped this program with had as final goal a start-up to be joined.

Successful introduction of the more expensive heavy lift concept into South East Asia, a market requiring education on value adding concepts and their consequences for bottom line project CAPEX and schedule and how to change internal processes to accomplish them.

Being awarded the first bundle installation contract within a monopolistic dominated market with a clear opportunity for the own organization to further diversify their services.

Being awarded many projects whereby clients realized the professional services offered but not combined with the self-owned and dominant resources. Examples are shallow water platform installations, float-over operations, large structure towing projects, pipe laying.

Being able to re-introduce successfully services within a market suffering from commercial neglect and ambush in the past. Strategic thinking combined with realizing at the right moment the opportunities offered were instrumental to the award of two contracts.

Convincing the own organization to provide and support non-standard solutions. Good understanding and close proximity with the team is an essential element.

Accomplishing the awards of all anchor projects from the target market in 1998.
