Alistair has 20 years experience in the telecommunications, computer, electronics and contract manufacturing industries – including 4.5 years in the USA – with 12 years Director and senior management experience at board, European regional and global corporate levels, in companies from $7M to $18B turnover. He has an exceptional track record of achievements in supply chain improvement, cost reduction, strategy development and implementation, lead time reduction, programme management and relationship management. Alistair has managed organisations of up to 280 people, sourced and controlled annual material spends of $2B and budgets of $10M.

KEY CAREER ACHIEVEMENTS

· Achieved in excess of $200M in cost reductions for Sun Microsystems, Inc., negotiating with suppliers such as Samsung, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Sony, Fujitsu, Nokia, Celestica and Solectron at President, VP and GM level. Recipient of five corporate awards for exceeding cost reduction goals.

· Transformed supply chain strategy to reduce lead times for products developed and sourced in Asia by 25% and was responsible for the planning and successful supply of a 50% increase in year-on-year volumes for Motorola.

· Developed and implemented new global sourcing and supply management strategies for several key high technology commodities for Sun with annual spends of up to $1B, significantly improving the corporation’s bottom line.

· Led a complex and diverse organisation of 280 technical, commercial and direct labour staff at Motorola, which was successfully motivated and managed through major new product introductions, significant volume ramps and the difficulties of a six month site closure and redundancy process, whilst meeting all revenue plan requirements.

· As Global External Manufacturing Director for Sun, successfully programme managed the outsourcing of all internal printed circuit assembly manufacturing worldwide - from initial programme concept and board approval through to implementation - meeting or exceeding all cost reduction, quality improvement and availability goals with no impact to revenue shipments.

· Key site staff contributor to exceptional green field start up for Sun Microsystems Scotland. Established two separate procurement organisations. Identified, selected, approved and developed Sun’s first European supply base, enabling the production and shipment of 45% of the corporation’s global product volumes within 2 years.
