• Leading a project between two sister companies (Cadbury and Bromor), to establish shared services in Warehousing & Distribution.
• Project Leader for the integration of a new acquisition (Adams) into Cadbury.

Mar 99 to June 02 Operations Director, Cadbury India Ltd.
Executive Director providing strategic direction and leadership to the Operations function, having direct accountability for delivering an efficient, cost effective and flexible Manufacturing & Logistics capability.

Based at Chudovo, Russia.
Role extended to full operations brief, i.e. Planning, Purchasing, Manufacturing (including Costing, HR, R&D, Quality and Technical functions) and Logistics.
Responsible for bedding down a newly built 40,000t greenfield operation, employing approx. 400 staff.

Jan 95 to May 96 General Manager – Manufacturing Development, Cadbury South Africa, based in Port Elizabeth.
Responsible for the strategic development of the manufacturing infrastructure to improve competitive advantage.
Continued as a Director of Cadbury Swaziland, reporting to Manufacturing Director
Focused on the visualisation, justification and execution of strategic projects such as :
• New factories and products
• Capacity expansion
• Facility optimisation
• Scoping and process definition for a new IT system (SAP)

Jan 92 to Dec 94 General Manager, Cadbury Swaziland, based in Matsapa, Swaziland.
P&L responsibility for the operation. The plant produced approx. 8,000t of Eclairs and 20,000t of Bubblegum and employed approx. 400 staff.
Directorship of Cadbury Swaziland, reporting to Manufacturing Director.
Project-managed the building of a new factory, from design through to commissioning, and the relocation of Africa’s largest Bubblegum operation to Swaziland.
The project was managed to budget and time and was executed with no loss of product sales.

Aug 90 to Dec 91 General Manager, Chapelat, Cadbury South Africa,
based in Johannesburg.
Responsible for Production, Engineering, HR, Supply Chain and Quality functions. The factory produced approx. 12000t of Sugar Confectionery.
Director of Chapelat, reporting to MD.
Reduced factory cost base by over 35% through :
• Re-configuring layouts and product flows
• Reducing staffing from 1400 to 800
• Improving industrial relations

Mar 90 to Aug 90 Project Manager, Trebor Bassett (UK), based in Sheffield, UK.
Project work focused on identifying and exploiting synergies arising from integrating several companies to form a Sugar Confectionery Division (Trebor Bassett).
Reported to Manufacturing Director. Working with consultants and as part of a project team, to map out the long term manufacturing strategy. Achieved early wins through improvements in :
• Supply chain
• Capex avoidance
• Capacity utilisation and
• Overall manufacturing costs.

Mar 89 to Feb 90 Plant Manager, Cadbury Ltd. (UK),
Based at Bournville, Birmingham.
Operated as Plant Manager in the Assortments Factory and conducted project work in the Moulded Factory, reporting to the respective Factory Managers.
Achieved significant improvements in plant efficiencies and process stability by :
• Re-engineering processes
• Defined and implemented changes to efficiency monitoring systems.

Sept 87 to Feb 90 Senior Manager – Distribution & Factory Productivity, Cadbury South Africa,

Responsible for achieving the Company’s distribution and inventory objectives.
Reported to General Manager. Significantly improved the Distribution infrastructure, capability and costs by :

• Established 3 purpose built distribution warehouses
