This involved process, systems and organisational development. Specific responsibilities and achievements include:

¨ The merging of 2 key business units, recruitment into and development of this new team
¨ Defining key areas of business performance improvement and selling and introducing this and the internal business consulting concept
¨ The introduction of a new rapid performance improvement technique – used in the Claims department to target a saving of £1.7mn

¨ The introduction of a new performance management (including 360 degree competency assessment) and job sizing system; with the design and delivery of associated management development

Eagle Star Insurance Company (1994 - 1999)

Subsidiary of British American Tobacco, merged with Zurich Financial Services.

Project Leader responsible for the design and implementation of a process for selecting managers into the new merged company structure, and the subsequent redundancies. Assisting also with an organisational development tool to bring about changes in the HR function.

HR Project Manager for the following projects:

¨ The implementation of a new computer system in the claims function, including redesign of the structure, culture and job roles to increase customer service and efficiencies
¨ Establishing an In-house Litigation Unit, including recruitment, salary and benefits design and staff handbook construction
¨ The design and implementation of an ‘Innovation Competition’ to capture the ideas of staff concerning specific business issues. Gained Board level and CEO ‘buy-in’

¨ Generalist HR support to Line Management and two key business areas
¨ The HR contribution in establishing an In-house Motor Accident Repair Centre
