Career History:

2002-2003 - Newstel Information Ltd

Newstel’s principal area of business is the provision of integrated IVR, contact centre and web response management services. The company also has a capability in the area of content origination and distribution using PRS. Main sector focus is media and marketing communications.

I joined Newstel in October 2002 as consultant Business Development Director.

My brief was to build a pipeline of outsource prospects and convert these to firm contracts. I did this and brought on board several significant clients, including Newsquest (Herald and Times) Ltd and Glasgow City Council.

I was appointed Chief Executive in January 2003 and my role became more management focussed. In this role, I was responsible for the overall operation of the company, including finance, management of existing contracts, operations and technology.

During this period, I took the decision to withdraw the company from live call handling and concentrate on their main capability of automated call management using IVR. This was complemented by PRS, secure payment services and web integration.

Principal clients included: BBC, Glasgow City Council, Lloyds TSB, Newsquest and Northcliffe Newspaper Group.

I left Newstel in July 2003 to set-up my own sales and marketing communications consultancy.

1997-2002 - Thus Plc

Thus Plc is a Tier 1 telecommunications network provider and ISP.

2001-02 - Partnership Development Manager

Responsible for developing strategic partnerships with whom Thus delivered large-scale integrated communications solutions. Successfully developed partnerships and networking solutions with companies such as Computacenter, Kingston In-Business and Nextira One (Alcatel)



1999-2001 - Head of Channel Sales

Responsible for setting up a channel partner division to sell Thus’ products.

Also responsible for the Thus contact centre direct sales teams and successfully brought together the ScottishTelecom and Demon Internet contact centres in to one composite sales team.

1997-1999 - Head of Residential Sales

Responsible for a residential Internet and telephony sales operation via a 60 seat contact centre and 30 agent outsource field sales team.


1995 -1997 - Kwik-Fit GB Ltd

Kwik-Fit is Europe’s leading automotive fast-fit repair company.

In my role as Marketing Services Director, I was responsible for brand identity and tactical marketing for a network of over 400 fast-fit repair centres.
