Ran the eCommerce Strategy Team and the Programme Office responsible for the full portfolio of eCommerce projects.
- Drove the strategy for development and exploitation of the bank’s e-commerce channels (including internet, iDTV, WAP) and SmartCards.
- Produced and managed the overall eCommerce programme plan and project selection/prioritisation processes.
- exercised full budgetary and financial control over the portfolio.
- Represented the bank on regulatory and governance issues relating to eCommerce in a series of government consultations.

Restructuring of IT function in a leading retail finance company. Restructured IT Development and multiple business project groups into a consolidated Change Management function. Managed the newly formed teams to ensure the new structure and way of working were fully embedded.

Business Change Programme within a major retail bank. Successfully delivered a multi-million pound programme to restructure the corporate sector within the bank. This included:
- The formation of circa 200 new ‘Corporate Banking Teams’ with new job roles, processes, etc.
- Major re-segmentation of the target market with re-alignment of sales and marketing portfolios.
- A series of major training initiatives for circa 3000 staff.

Interim IT Director in an insurance company. Responsible for decommissioning the existing IT facilities maintenance (FM) arrangement and establishing instead an internal IT department together with completely new business systems.
- Selected and managed the new IT team.
- Managed the software supplier of the new system to a successful implementation, which included a major and highly complex data conversion exercise.
- Recruited, and effected handover to, the new permanent IT director.

Programme Manager in a major retail bank. Established and managed the project management group needed to deliver a range of business critical e-banking projects. Key initiatives included the modification of all existing systems and processes to achieve full compliance in time for the launch of the Euro.
- Overall responsibility for four major development programmes with a total value in excess of £12m.

CORPORATE CAREER SUMMARY
1978–1993 IBM (UK) Ltd

Project Director - Consultancy assignment with the Employment Department to review the management arrangements for the newly formed Training and Enterprise Councils (TECs).
Made and implemented a series of recommendations relating to the way the Department’s programmes were incepted, managed and delivered via the TEC network.

Marketing Manager - Managed a team of marketing and sales professionals operating in the IT services and hardware industry over a wide geographic base, primarily marketing to commercial banks and Local Government.
- Sold and successfully delivered several complex IT systems on a fixed contract basis (sales values in the range £150k to £4m).
- Managed the transition from product-aligned operation to industry alignment.
- Successfully implemented a 'services' culture where chargeable service work became the norm - achieved 60% ‘year on year’ growth.

Planning and Control Manager - Within the wholesale division of a major retail bank on an £18m development project for a new 'back office' IT system. Assigned mid-project to establish and implement the project control framework needed to deliver the project on time and within budget.
- Redefined the overall project management framework and project support functions.
- Established the management regime required for tracking and controlling the sub-projects so that the overall project schedule was contained and delivery within budget was achieved.

Programme Manager of a multi-million pound systems integration project for a major travel company. Managed the activities of the major subcontractors (two independent software houses) together with in-house and client staff.
Rapidly identified a feasibility problem within the core part of the proposed technical solution. Agreed with the client and the subcontractors that an orderly close down of the project was the best option. Maintained excellent relationship with client during the close down and as a result related business opportunities were subsequently won.

Marketing/Sales - Marketing software products and integrated IT solutions in the City. Worked with a range of business partners to enhance the overall software portfolio.
