Managing Director

Work Experience

I started my career at the Instrumentation Department of the Engineering Contractor Comprimo ( later Stork NV , currently Jacobs Engineering ).
After a short period working as an Instrument Engineer at ARAMCO in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia , I was transferred to the nuclear division NUCON.
NUCON , a consortium of Comprimo and BBC-GETSCO, was responsible for the design, purchasing and installation of instruments of the cooling water systems for the Leibstadt Nuclear Power Plant
( KKL ) in Switzerland.
During a period of 3 years I worked as a member of the QA audit team responsible for the selection of suppliers. To qualify these suppliers required to be ISO 9001 certified and be capable of supplying materials according to the IEEE standards for nuclear applications.
The work involved auditing and selection of several suppliers in Europe e.g. WIKA and Burkert in Germany ; Fisher Controls in France ; Magnetrol in Belgium ; Carlo Gavazzi and Tecnomatic in Italy as well as Rosemount in the USA.
During the manufacturing phase at the supplier sites I acted as a member of the inspection team, for witnessing the nuclear qualification tests, non destructive examinations and final inspection tests.
In the installation and start up phase , I was detached to the KKL site in Switzerland for 3,5 years, as the liaison between the NUCON office in Amsterdam and the construction site team of Carlo Gavazzi.
During this onsite assignment my responsibilities included the QA aspects of installation and approval of the instrumentation records by the Swiss Authorities and the customer KKL .

At returning to the Netherlands in 1985 I joined Rosemount Benelux in the position of Quality Assurance Manager.
Rosemount Benelux , a subsidiary of Rosemount Inc, Minneapolis USA, was in the process of starting up a new facility for local assembly of the RS3 process computer systems in Europe.
It was my responsibility to set up a quality program in line with the manufacturing / test procedures from the USA and the ISO 9001 standard.
In 1987 the Rosemount Benelux organization ( 150 employees ) covering the sales , project engineering , service and the assembly plant for the RS3 systems for total Europe ,was certified by DNV in accordance with ISO 9001.
In 1988 I was project leader for the implementation of the JD Edwards ERP system .
From 1988 till 1993 at Rosemount I was as Manager Engineering Systems responsible within the systems division, for the project engineering and implementation of “turn-key “ process automation projects.

In 1993 I was asked by ELSAG-Bailey ,an Italian process automation company based in Genoa , to set up a new subsidiary in the Netherlands for the a sales, engineering and service of EB process automation systems.
In 1995 Elsag- Bailey acquired Fischer & Porter, and the Dutch operation of Elsag Bailey was merged into the Fischer & Porter operation in the Netherlands.

December 1995 till July 1996 I worked for Honeywell IAC as Project Group Manager, managing one of the four engineering groups, responsible for procurement, engineering, assembly and installation of "turn key" automation projects for industrial- and power plants with the Honeywell DCS system.

In July 1996 I made the switch from engineering to sales and became member of the management team from Foxboro Nederland , appointed as Director Sales & Marketing, responsible for sales of the instruments and turn-key process automation systems projects.
Customers / Major key accounts for these projects included Shell, Bayer, BASF, AKZO, Total , Heineken and others.

Within an year I was requested by the management of Foxboro Inc, USA
( now Invensys Inc.) to take over the position of Managing Director. In this role I carried full operational and profit responsibility of the Dutch operation and one year later the Belgium operation was added as well.
From 1997 till 2002 a sales growth was realized from 19 Mio $ to 26 Mio $ in the Netherlands and in Belgium from 2.5 to 4.5 Mio $ , through expanding market share in the Benelux and several international projects in e.g. Czech Republic, Thailand , Italy , France.

This year Invensys Systems changed the European organization from a BU / Region driven organization ( UK, Germany, Italy, France,Benelux) into a Pan European Matrix organization with VP’s at European level for Sales, Engineering and Service.
The Benelux organization is reporting to the German and UK organization
